Café COMME CA has Japanese tatami room as if it is for the tea ceremony. It also has many tables and chairs like ordinary café, but their concept is “Create western sweets by the warm Japanese heart”.

Japanese garden

It seems like new fashion to have colorful fresh fruits tart in tatami room seeing Japanese garden like Zen Buddhism temples.

Tea bowls and some small tea utensils were also sold beside the tatami room.

Maiko’s Tarts

Maiko's Tart

Do you know the difference between Maiko and Geisha? Maiko is usually teenager wearing pretty bright color kimono and ornamental hairpins while Geisha are wearing black kimono and simple hairpins as an adult.

This tart is the design of Maiko’s hair style called “Maiko’s tart”. The design and taste changes by months. I think the mind to feel four seasons is certainly the spirit of Japanese Cha-do. The photo is in January.

It was made of thick tea cream, black sweet beans, a flower made of white chocolate, and a Japanese cookie etc.

strawberry tarts

There were varieties of strawberry tarts in the end of January. It looked like rubies in a show case. There are many kinds of strawberries in Japan.

How about visiting with your girlfriend?

Kyoto Cafe COMME CA

This kind of pretty designs are very popular among Japanese women. If you have a Japanese girlfriend, it’s nice café to visit together.

When I went, 4 girls (maybe around 50years old) were choosing which tarts they were going to have. They’ve just decided when I finished eating Maiko’s tart!

I can imagine their feelings, all tarts are so pretty that we can’t decide which one to try.

Although it’s a bit difficult to find because it’s on the 2nd floor but the 1st floor is a big Japanese souvenir shop in Gion. You can relax and enjoy Japanese tarts here.
